1970’s Popular Hairstyles

The 70’s was a time of where people stopped becoming so high maintenance like in the 50’s and 60’s, instead the majority of the population swapped their hairspray, teasing coms and rollers for blow dryers and the awkward use of irons. The so called flowing out of bed look was one that was popular with the majority of the population. It was all about having long flowing straight hair. Other hairstyles such as the ‘Feather look’ that we have Farrah Fawcett to thank for was also a very popular trend in the 70’s. This type of hair style was very easy to achieve as all you have to do is blow the hair from underneath to create volume and then and then blow dry in an up and out motion around the face creating the feathered look.

The disco wedge cut was also a huge phenomenon in the 70’s being the alternative for the party goers. Think a short bob with hard lines and then usually frizzed for extra volume. This hairstyle may have been due to the fact that Wella brought out a new product allowing hair for maximum volume allowing hair dressers sculpting perfect afros. Why not try bring one of these funky styles into fashion today!!!!
